ABRUZZO

Parks and nature

Abruzzo is called the green region of Europe, because it is protected for over a third of its surface.

Bears and chamois populate its famous National Park.
Among the high peaks of the Gran Sasso, Majella and Velino and the golden line of the coast, the nature of Abruzzo forms a picture of great variety and charm, which can be appreciated at any time of the year.

Thanks to a dense network of reserves and nature oases, the nature of Abruzzo is now adequately protected and can be easily visited by individual enthusiasts as well as organized groups.

Churches and monuments

Churches, monuments, necropolises, museums, hermitages and fortified villages are widespread almost everywhere in the hilly landscapes of Abruzzo, always easily reachable from any position.

Alongside famous monuments and collections such as Santa Maria di Collemaggio, the ancient streets of Scanno, the Chieti and Rocca Calascio National Archaeological Museum, dozens of lesser-known wonders, scattered in every corner of the region, excite the tourist.

Abruzzo was the birthplace of the poet D’Annunzio, writers and philosophers such as Silone and Croce, painters such as Michetti, Palizzi and Cascella and many other artists.

We cannot forget the historical and cultural treasures of Atri, the prestigious Castelli ceramics and the places of faith that have always characterized our history, among the most representative the Shrine of St. Gabriel and the Scala Santa di Campli, where it is still possible to obtain plenary indulgence.
